What they actually meant is they all believe that MC have received Nine Calamities Demon Art from his father - the exclusive martial art of the heavenly demon and his successor that is not supposed be passed down to anyone else, even family. As in the heavenly demon unoficially have aknowledge MC as the successor, in secret. Which is currently not true.
