Can someone explain the story to me like a 5 old? Bc I swear I understood what was happening at some point I got lost and stopped reading only to come back and not understand😭

Snake guy has been found out to be the former demon leader, I think by both MC and probs blue haired master too. His uncle and mother were shown to be hiding important memories from him (we don't know what yet - but we do know mother is probably doing it for his sake). Mother used to poison snake boy as a kid so he couldn't use spiritual power, and also (allegedly) killed her husband/snake dad. Allegedly, snake dad also went insane in during the war before his death. We don't know how accurate any of the info is yet though.
Blue haired master (who usually has a child form but used the zither in an adult form) saved them but is missing a lot of his spiritual power: this is probably related to his suspicious cave with the suspicious dead bodies everywhere, and his suspicious backwards ageing.
White haired guy got hit by something in the battle and may not ever be able to use martial arts again, Fox boy feels really guilty since it's partially his fault. Fox boy also got left behind.
As for why they were in the ghost town/MC's childhood home, I believe they were investigating who let all the demons out of their demon prison. The sect believes it was the persona snake boy created when they first entered (he has 3: demon leader, "just snake" form, and the guy who entered the prison/sealed area with them).
The only thing I'm confused about is who's aware of which of his identities... I think MC still doesn't know his pet is the same as snake guy, but is aware snake guy is the demon king. Maybe.
