@Vertex It's been a year, hope you read history facts cuz mate in desperate times like wars, cold winters, famine etc, you're more likely to fall victim to people you know than your enemies. Not because humans are evil, but because scarcity + fear + desperation = moral collapse.
One of few examples : (timeline pls, Monday)
1936-1938 Stalin’s purges where neighbors reporting neighbors.
1932-1933 Ukraine Holodomor famine where people turned on families for bread.
1992-1996 Siege of Sarajevo where betrayal, black markets, hoarding, all done by locals.

You're exactly the type of reader this kind of story loves, you trust what it shows you, not what it wants to hide from you.

And yes, I know it's fiction but fiction can also affect your perception of reality. You calling someone with an opinion "retarded", is the sign of that. If you're used to reading stories where the main character is always right and never experience consequences, you will start to subconsciously apply it to yourself and will think others that don't share your opinions are in the wrong
I enjoy reading comedy, romance, action, fantasy and historical :)
I don't like stories with no struggles but it's an exception if it's interesting enough xP
