Blame the crappy cliche trend if you want to blame something. It's a good story. I don't like how manga and anime fast track the he** out everything, but it's still a good story.

Most people aren't predisposed to negative tendencies. Imagine being mistreated all your life, and the only thing you want to do is mistreat others?
That logic is flawed. Most of the people that believe violence is the answer are those on the winning side. Most on the receiving end don't have power, so we have to endure. Many of the people that attain power after the fact know that abusing it leads to more trouble. That is the premise of this story. Attaining power after suffering, then learning to use it wisely. Overlord fan boys like you are probably the type that will wonder why you got arrested for assaulting that homeless man.
