I don't understand why people hate flash backs especially when it's part of the story telling. I know plenty of flashbacks that just carries on nonsensically but in this scenario, we need to know what happened to Victor in Formicarium. Why he came back to Luna despite it being his nightmare. This flashback is the entire mystery of this plot, the whole point of reading it. It's not the same as other flashbacks that usually has no plot point and just contributes to world building or so.
