@JPANIME to be honest it's not really a pointless struggle, their fight and their death is their fate, she said it already they had died multiple times, but this turn is different because in here davey survived (assuming he died in the previous turns due to illness and betrayal)
@Alpha08 he didn't exist in any of her previous timelines because he was with the gods, outside her flow of time, thus she has never seen him before. And Davy arriving, just as she's about to die, is a common and abused writing trope, as he swoops in to save the damsel in distress.
