trollface stickerYeah, no amount of character development can save this story. If this ends with the MC and ML happily together, then we’re fully entering fantasy territory. I’m serious, I’ve seen this exact kind of story play out in real life.

@Nqire I know three women who are in relationships with manipulative, narcissistic a**s just like the MC and ML's boyfriend, or even worse. One of them is actually worse. And these girls have just as little self-respect as the ML does. The ML leaving his boyfriend for the MC would just be trading one a**e for another. And the truth is, people like the MC don't change, because they don't think they're wrong. They don't think they need to change. That's why I said that if the MC changes and the two of them end up together, that's fantasy. I can't enjoy this kind of story because it uses the whole "love conquers all" idea the wrong way. People end up fooling themselves, trying to save someone who doesn't want to be saved and doesn't even think they need saving. "Love conquers all" doesn't work in this situation, because a narcissist doesn't love anyone but themselves.
