Hmm... Pinocchio gained life from a wish. Does Okarun's gaining of yokai powers as an indirect result from his wish to encounter aliens count?

@Apol15 huh... That would make sense when you say it like that. But he gained yokai powers when he was possessed by granny turbo tho.
Or maybe the relevance of Pinocchio to Okarun would be him gaining psychic powers through training under Seiko's guidance. And that his wish to protect Momo came to be when he manifested his psychic powers during his fight with the mummy.
@QwQ or, we could be overthinking this. Pinocchio's biggest thing is about being a liar. Okarun has been lying about his feelings for Momo for a long time. They became honest with each other... but her amnesia set their relationship back, and now he's lying again. Maybe it's that
@Apol15 I would like to remind everyone that there's very few gendered pronouns in Japanese, so 'he' could actually be they and the last panel is a red herring.
Still, I'm excited to see what theory pans out.

Spoiler!
Because it would be really funny, but really ridiculous, that the adventures of Pinocchio are related to Okarun not being a man, because his banana and golden spheres were taken.
And his character arc was about him becoming 'a real boy' down there.
And you know what grows? Bananas.
