Sylvester reminds her that he once said he would kiss her when she fell in love with him. He tells her he loves her, and they share a long, romantic kiss by the sea. After the kiss, Sylvester returns to the Grand Duke's mansion first because Ophelia wants time to calm down. Instead of leaving immediately, she secretly goes to a large pine tree with a shovel she had hidden in the carriage. She remembers that, in the original story, the heroine found a magical scroll buried there by chance. Since she cannot rely on luck, she digs for it herself. After working hard, she finds a hidden box containing a magic circle that can summon demons. She plans to use this powerful item later to make a deal with Prince Largo. As she is about to leave, Sylvester and the Grand Duchess find her covered in dirt while holding the box. They ask what she is doing, and Ophelia awkwardly jokes that she was "playing house." Back at the Grand Duke's mansion, Sylvester questions her in private about the mysterious box. At first she refuses to answer, but then admits it contains a magic circle that could help them negotiate with Prince Largo. Sylvester is shocked because Ophelia somehow keeps finding important people and magical items. He wonders how she knows so much, but she avoids giving a real answer. Even after being suspicious, he praises her, kisses her cheek, and leads her to dinner.
✕During dinner, everyone has a pleasant conversation. Ophelia asks why the Grand Duchess came looking for her earlier. The Grand Duchess admits she was worried because of what happened in the dangerous forest before. Ophelia tells her she has forgiven the past, but says she still has not forgiven Countess Fleur. She then mentions that Fleur recently sent her some tea as a gift. The Grand Duchess suddenly becomes nervous and asks whether Ophelia drank the tea. When Ophelia says she did not, the Grand Duchess looks relieved. She then confesses that, some time ago, Fleur secretly asked her to obtain birth control medicine. The Grand Duchess never knew exactly how Fleur planned to use it, but now she fears Fleur may have mixed it into the tea she sent Ophelia. Ophelia realizes this is probably true and is shocked that Fleur would do something so cruel. Sylvester becomes furious and orders the tea to be tested immediately. He says that if the medicine is found in the tea, Fleur has committed a serious crime. The Grand Duchess begs him not to kill Fleur, saying she believes Fleur simply made a terrible mistake. Sylvester argues that trying to prevent Ophelia from having children is as serious as harming their future family.
To make Fleur's crime seem even more serious, Sylvester lets everyone believe that Ophelia is already pregnant. The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess happily congratulate them. Ophelia is completely embarrassed because she is not actually pregnant. She quietly asks Sylvester why he is lying, but he says this will make Fleur's punishment much harsher if the medicine is discovered. When Ophelia worries that the lie will be exposed, Sylvester jokingly says they can simply make it true soon, making her blush with embarrassment. After returning home, Sylvester orders an investigation into the tea and then goes to his office. Ophelia is left alone in her room. She thinks about Fleur's actions and cannot understand why Fleur would want to stop her from having children. She also realizes that events are becoming very different from the original story she remembers. Deciding she must be more careful in this changed world, she plans to make a deal with Prince Largo using the magic circle and continue working toward gaining her own freedom in the future.
