Evie, her friends and that fake princess would be kidnapped by Siren (a black mage) or get lost in the forest (I'm sorry I don't remember the exact detail since I read it a long time ago.) They were running from wolves and some mysterious trees which were influenced by the mage. Everyone gets hurt by the wolves and trees capture them, even the fake princess, except for Evie. Evie was hanging by a tree when the emperor found them. Evie was safely delivered by the tree to the emperor since she has "Protection Of The Forest'', which was bestowed to her by her mother. And that imperial crest is supposed to appear only when Evie's life is in danger. After that the imperial crest appears and remains permanently and Evie shows this to the emperor that she also has the crest.
But it'll be a long way to go for that part. There are many events that happen, the emperor considering adopting Evie, the banquet, the 'grand' revelation, the investigation, the emperor not believing that Eve is not his daughter, the marquis's desperate attempts, Evie getting shunned and then ''THE EVENT''.
