But for some reason everyone just hates him

@Lovelypanda22 it's called reader's intuition. There're a lot of 22nd mls that are well loved, some are even more loved than the ml. There're even main villains that readers can't bring themselves to hate but this Mr Han just had something about him right from the beginning that says he's not a good guy
