Wait but it doesnt make sense, if kaeda and our mc were childhood friends or kaede liked him since he was a child then why was he in love with makoto?? just for the plot you cant change the things. if he loved the younger brother since he was a child why go for the elder one once you got older??

I think it might have been a dream rather than a memory. I had the exact same qualm at first but you can piece that the events he thinks of were projected by Hina's conversation
@Itz_dark Chris Right Im actually fully wrong and that it was a repressed memory. The light novel explains Kaede crushed on the younger brother first as children. Then when he was rejected for this heteronormativity, he repressed the painful memory, internalising the wish to be female purely to be accepted by society. MbG
