Ain't it obvious? Since the producer decide to play dirty with teather director, he make himself as the best, and that includes make actors/actress in the show doubt their skill. When he's not doing it, he uplifts everyone. That's why these few episodes felt like torture to them. He doesn't accept being disrespected.
