I see the author modified FL's powers. To "allow" plot and misunderstanding, the author removed the FL's ability to automatically read people's status window. She would have known instantly the ML liked her since the status window always displays their thoughts. I am sure it will turn on and off by author's will to make plot progress, lazy writing. Keep it one way or another or state she has better control to turn on or off.
