@Jennifer B If you remember in the first chapters he was a bad person originally and a corrupted man who didn't pay any attention to his mom. It's kind of that situation where old habits die hard or that he changed because of his second chance but after changing for so long he is going back to his normal original self. Which I personally like because it gives the character more depth a lot like Mushoku Tensei where if you reincarnated but even if you changed to a different person physically but mentally you are the same person as you once was.
