@Meme Do you really not know how to read or are you just stupid? Ian said in previous chapters that because of his karma, he ruins TJ’s life, so he is ready to sacrifice the opportunity to be close to his loved one so that TJ can be happy

 We also don't know yet how TJ got his scars, Ian feels really guilty about that. Might be connected with Ian's drug using era. 
Their relationship hides more things we know about, it's more deep than we can see. They constantly ruined each others life, that's what made Ian tired. (And this gangster life of course.) They want different things in life. 

I do think they love each other, it might not be healthy but they're not healthy either, with their traumas and so. 

It's never just black and white, folks!
