Even with the current translation, when Dan said "he started having less controll over his feelings as time goes by", I didn't interpret it as him falling for Jaekyung but rather him being uncomfortable/hasn't accepted where he is in his life.
Someone would say "you'd adapt and learn", or "it's OK not to be OK". But Dan doesn't want that.
