Karel ready the lettera Sasya left before he runned away and undurstood that It was all a misunderstanding Ok so at the end Sasya died naturally (he was old) and after the funeral Karel does suicide because he doesn't have anymore reason to live. But if I undurstood correctly they met again in another life! Kind of Happy ending!

It's still a happy ending cuz they spend half a century together and when Sasya dies naturally from old age, Karen also kills himself after the funeral since he wanted to be with Sasya as soon as possible. And like the previous commenter mentioned, they meet again in the next life.
