Comment by salfaro on A Banished Odd-Jobber Starts a New Life - Chapter 22

@salfaro I would say it was Dawnlight's ignorance and stupidity that triggered the golem problem (when they spread the undiluted repellent over and over again), Uncle Griffin just helped a little by not really doing anything about it, well, except for keeping the golems at bay long enough for them/it to build up more of a grudge. That's how I saw it at any rate.

@Lady.Tistla It's been a while so I don't exactly remember (and I aint gonna re-read), but iirc the griffin didn't just "not do anything about it", he actively triggered the golems into surging their population large enough to become a threat. If the griffin hadn't done anything, the golem population would have been manageable and Dawnlight wouldn't have gotten killed, regardless of whether they were dumb about overusing the repellant or not.

@salfaro ummm they couldnt handle even 2 of the golems. and the griffin gave up on them after he heard them say they were just going to sacrifice the 2 warg variants.

@salfaro It explains this, though as you said, it's been awhile for you, but they were dropping the undiluted repellent which was made using secretions from Uncle Griffin, and by doing that they were basically screaming "This existential threat is coming to take your territory" at the golems, non stop for day's. Uncle Griffin kept them from coming close, but did nothing to stop them from propogating, the reason they were propogating was because Dawnlight was fuc**** stupid and kept using the undiluted repellent.

So, no, Uncle Griffin wasn't the cause of this, and he wasn't intentionally threatening the golems, that was Dawnlight doing that.

@akatsu Baki THIS! Uncle Griffin even says that he was going to deal with the rest of the golens, but them the stupid party decided to sacrifice the twins to scape.
