4k against 1k is not an overwhelming force when the 1k is in a hard point like that. Them coming out for a pincer attack is a stupid move. They should have taken the full force of 12k against each point. That would be a more realistic force.

@Isaiah I had the same thought. Looking historically, a well fortified location, during medieval times,can repel a large force with a fraction of the man power. A mere 100 could defend against a force vastly larger than them. A defending force of 1k would easily repel any assault by a 4k force. Laying siege is definitely out of the question due to sieges capable of lasting for months or even years. Therefore allowing the enemy bolster their army and attacking, and potentially whipping out, the relatively small besieging force.
@JayFrank I would agree... but then again... there is magic that can wipe out a whole squads...
pincer attack will be ideal to take out the mages or when they enemy in the middle of attacking the fortress. this way they turn from offence to defence.
