Not sure how fast this plans to update. But I'll go ahead and post this here.

This is specifically for this arc.
The three gods that the king and the empire worship are real beings. However they are not exactly gods as they were actually apprentices waiting to become gods. Needless to say, they illegally made this world which in turn created a lot of problems which will reveal themselves in later arcs. Now at the start of this world, all the natives worshipped the kings of the forest. However the three gods became jealous for not being worshipped and instructed the king of the Empire to wage war against the kings of the forest.
Upon purifying Chai's kin, that lightening bolt comes down scaring the he** out of everyone in the throne room. As the MC continues to purify and heal the forest, the Empire continues to feel the backlash of the curse they casted. MC even accidentally sends out a lightening bolt cutting off the king's arm and destroying his prized sword.
But the final nail will come when the MC comes into contact with the world tree and the treants that protect it. Assembling the six divine dragons and fully healing the world tree, the Empire's curse is completely broken which in turn kills everyone who was in direct contact with the magic crystal. The king who used the magic crystal to give himself a psuedo form of immortality will start to age rapidly. With all the slave seals broken, his wife/daughter finishes the job and stabs him to death before breaking down herself.
The next arc will then cover the gods and how badly out of hand things have gotten among them.
