Comment on ChapterPayback - Chapter 64

The first time i tried to read this manhwa, i found Jay's attitude atrocious.  And i mean, it is, but not exactly towards Yoohan. Have you noticed how actually gentle he is with Yoohan? Those small kisses, hugs. And Yoohan himself admitted that the kisses are weird. But this is my second time trying to read, i've seen some spoilers and got even more interested. Because i think i know what's actually going on between them.

The thing is, humans in nature are afraid of change, yet constantly evolve. Change is inevitable. But most of the times abrupt change can only damage you more, because, if people's attitude toward you radically changes, people who are used to live undet immense stress and negative experiences their whole life, will find this kind of change even more stressful. That's why Jay said he's afraid of breaking him. Because he knows that, if he starts treating Yoohan gently, he will just distance himself. So what Jay doing is setting a familiar environment for Yoohan, so he doesn't leave and doeesn't get spooked by abrupt change. And i mean, it makes sense.

@foreveryyonug You can compare it to cheating, in a way that it's also a change, if someone you didn't expect to cheat on you, goes out and cheats, that's change, and the most damaging one, cause it's emotional. It can be also divorce of your parents when you didn't expect it, or even coming outs, when their whole life parent wasn't even thinking of a possibility of their child being gay, and then they get stricken with this revelation. I'm not making an excuse to them, just an example. Regardless, because i realised what Jay is actually doing, from vague spoilers; i realised that it goes a lot deeper than just being a psycho. By exposing Yoohan to the things he's used to – violence, threats, competition – he's familiarising him with himself. Otherwise, Yoohan would just get spooked by the sudden change and distances himself, which Jay doesn't want to happen. Even at this point i don't think he's actually willing to kill him, it's a bluff to make him used to having someone else by his side. And honestly, i think that's the most considerate thing you could ever do to a loved one. Some methods of exposure may not be very pleasing, however, that's not something really up to us. But it's complicated and applies really only in situations like Yoohan and Jay have. In comparison i can tell you Alhaitham and Kaveh (from genshin), have a similar dynamic; Alhaitham exposes Kaveh to negativity cause that's what Kaveh is used to, otherwise he's just gonna run away or worsen his trauma. That's what i think is going on between Jay and Yoohan.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk, you may start asking questions lol
