Well it's not new, some male leads are like that, they will rather kill their child rather than lose their wife because of their love and obsession for the wife which later backfire to them because the wife always choose their children instead of their husband or their own life. And this will surely backfire on him.🥲

I mean I think most guys who love their wife would choose her instead of an unborn baby they have no feelings for. It's different for women since they're the one carrying it for 9 months, but it's normal to not expect to lovea child until you actually get to hold them in person.
