As a rereader of this series they both are valid the sides aren't rly necessary, imo fl has so many valid points and not trusting him after he took over her home the office her grandma and deceased mother worked in it's only fair for him to have to win her favour he didn't do anything to get her trust and in this situation I feel that he was the on who should've initiated it and tried cause he had the full story and she was kept in the dark over like everything (if you were her you wouldn't be wanting to making a relationship with him) alsoooo for ppl judging her (for having and himself) lover this is Victorian era where contractual marriages would usually mean the couple would have themselves personal s**workers ml has access to them aswell he just chooses not to and because he made that decision for himself does not mean fl should feel/be obligated to also choose not to.
also just to point out he tries to make her cry and give up so that her gaze will change instead of earning her trust (she shouldn't be obligated to earn his trust given the circumstances of the relationship) he literally admitted to it, he went about getting her to look at him without fear and anger and judging eyes by making her fear and sadden at the sight of him when he could have her help and approval by earning her trust ALSSOSOOO this is a spoiler so be warned

She waited on him during there first night hoping to make the best of it and he never showed up so she has all but no reason the trust or give trust to him. He also never explained himself and his actions regardless of his intentions
