Basically the Eva cult have something that can detect the special souls of people who are called the mirror of truth(mot) and would kill them. These people are able to see the the people who have had their bodies stolen by Eva cult members. Basically camilla was destined to be the next mirror of truth and Darmen was sick of watching the cult kill the mot again and again. So before camilla was assigned her soul, he swapped her soul with another girl, the "original" camilla also know as sia. By doing so he prevented the soul of camilla from being BORN in her world. As a result taht special item was not able to detect that the mirror of truth had been born. So when camilla was old enough her soul was returned back to her original world and so on. Basically in doing so dorman was able to prevent the eva cult from killing her. So yeah that's the gist of it all.. I was so surprised that he got such an important role in the manhwa when I thought of him a comedy tool. It was nice touch.
