It's better to talk to your partner cause it's you who's in a relationship with him and not your parents , think what's good for you and if you can spend your future with him ( idk your age so it depends) Its also not fair on him cause he's giving his time to you and you don't feel the same way about him , sort out your feeling first and think.
You should've confronted him while you were talking to him or you can still do it if you feel uncomfortable.
