@Detergent because she feels thal all the good things in her life where conditional on the fact that 1) the other didn't know she wasn't his real daughter and 2) she had to become the perfect princess to start to receive that affection

@schadenfreude Exactly. She had to slave away and become the perfect princess to gain the emperor's favor, so that she could avoid her death. All of the "good times" were fake. She's been wearing a mask this whole time. Sometimes I wonder what story people are reading...bc it can't be this one.
