poeple calling the MC an ass**** or some other shallow and demeaning caricature doesn't understand the point of the story, sad to say the rather obvious 'nuance' flew over their heads. it's honestly refreshing how 'flawed' the MC is. his faulty actions stemmed forth from a deep feeling of inadequacy, he's not just being a dumbass. he's genuinely afraid of being hated or disliked. over the course of the chapters you can see him opening up and growing as a person with the final act of him coming clean about the whole thing. the point of the story wasn't the coming together of a couple, love story or a happy ending, the point of the story was seeing MC overcoming his deep seated fears and shame. and the author was able to portray the MC's vulnerability unlike any other.
I'm genuinely dissapointed in the people that do not see this side of the story, it's very disheartening.
9/10, there simply aren't many stories like this.
