when it comes to character development and pacing, I think haikyuu is still better than this

its really not fair to compare them both. haikyuu is all about teamwork making the dream work. Kageyama can't exist as a world class player without hinata, and vice versa. Plus- both of them already had fully developed talents, haikyuu is about them honing them and learning the various ways to apply them. Haikyuu is also taking place in a much more free spirited environment. Haikyuu is about highschool kids playing volleyball as a team, and they've always had that consistency factor. In blue lock, literally every single arc the main characters had to change teams. They literally have to adjust to new people every single time. It's like moving to a new school every two weeks and trying to make friends that last for a lifetime. They were trapped and unable to talk to people or do other things they love. Mentally, haikyuu is a very safe space, while blue lock can drive you crazy. Its a very competitive place, and the skill levels being shown, the movements they make, the detail in each and every aspect of this manga is much more than haikyuu's. Haikyuu is a national league. Blue lock is literally a 17yr old against world class players. What were you expecting honey? The character development has been happening throughout the manga. He went from a nice pushover who passes to a rude as he** striker who steals and predicts other people's plays and devours them. It's the development of his skills that's taking too long. And this manga's pacing is exceptional, I think.
