Being a redhead is a recessive gene, so all it takes is for both parents to carry the gene (and a dominant gene that determines their own hair color) for each to pass on a red hair gene, meaning each parent must have at least one redhead who passed on the gene to them. So nothing amazing here! It is in the opposite case that it would be impossible naturally: a person's hair can't be red except by having only red genes (so it's impossible to pass on a brown or chestnut gene, since a redhead can't be a carrier).
