Nah, he'd simply die and do same thing as heretic. And we would simply get a time skip or drag "civilization" for dozens chapter. That's boring. Now there's at least conflict with real difficulty.

@zawlin htike   The author made the promise with his wife for his own convenience. If he just chose to d*e every time things got hard you wouldn't see conflict and that gets boring. But yeah I do agree with you he could easily kill himself and just start over
