@Galactic Navy Officer Right? SOP for many novels otherwise it's too painful.

However, I will say that I have abandoned some stories which lurch from one catastrophe to the next and then spend 10 chapters in the middle of a big boss battle.  It's just bad writing when they do that and it becomes progressively harder to remember why you should care.
