HOLD YOUR HORSES, EVERYONE! I know that what Jennie did was awful, and I’m upset with her too. However, let’s not forget that she’s struggling with Bipolar Disorder, a serious mental health condition.
For those who don’t know, Bipolar Disorder (formerly called manic depression) is a condition that causes extreme mood swings, including emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression). It’s not something you can just “snap out of” or control easily. [If you want to know more, feel free to do a quick search to better understand it.]
On top of this, Jennie has an abusive family, as we saw in earlier chapters. The pain and trauma she’s endured have undoubtedly shaped the way she reacts to situations, even if it leads to poor decisions.
Now, here’s a reminder to everyone in the comments: I’ve noticed many people being harsh, saying she should just do this or stop being a “b*tch.” I get it—it’s frustrating to watch someone make mistakes. But please try to understand that mental illness and personal struggles aren’t excuses, but they are reasons for why things might not seem as simple from her perspective.
What might seem easy for you could be an overwhelming battle for someone like Jennie.
Sometimes, it is very hard to understand other people's action especially those who suffer with mental disorder. And for the record, I am not protecting her, I also don't like the way she handled things. But that's not an excuse for us to lash out and say harsh things eventhough she is just a fictional character. Because the way you express your thought in social media, speaks a lot about you.
Note: I also consider the possibility that Philip is innocent. But based on his character and mental disorder, i think he may or may not been involved in that awful prank. Just sayin'.
