I've never been on a professional building's rooftop before, so I don't know what kind of door is most often used. If this hospital had a handled door, I'm inpressed. If it was a pushbar, I'm not. (Because of the straightjacket.) Regardless, there's no excuse for a patient making it to the roof by themselves. They're so scared of him they can't even contain him safely. Leaving him without use of his arms is inviting more danger and lawsuits, if he hurts himself like jumping off a roof. It's also showing he's a hero in name only, and they don't trust him enough to allow him basic human courtesies.
