Basically the king will find out about their meeting with Samuel and he orders the Duke to hold an orb made by the mages that changes color when one is lying like a lie detector machine but Samuel will take that orb and will tell him everything and plead that he didn't know anything and he wasn't trying to usurp him. But ofcourse this fool will not believe him easily but looking at the orbs color he starts to think that may be his decision was incorrect, you know abour banishing him and killing everyone but he isn't ready to accept his mistake. Then the Tower master will come and confess that Samuel is saying the truth and he was scared and that's why he never told the truth outright to the King. The King really loved Samuel and his suppressed feelings finally come up when his rage calms down. So they have an emotional family reunion and nobody dies.
