@Arietty i think its because it not in the ideal heteronormative expectatives. She is outside of it :being abandoned be her parents , Grandma with Alzheimer, being poor. So she is in that time in her teens, she wants to fit in, when being different is huge, weight on her, fears it. ending without friends becuse she is different. And maybe she is bicurious too. Who knows. So she doesn't want her benefactor being imperfect, having money problems because he is rejected fro the community. And end not supporting her with money. Tthats what i get of why she is acting so weird. Its about her ,not him.
