@Steroid Pirate Eh, Gurren Lagann was far from the first to be interested spirals.

Also, pretty sure it was more about specifically "Spiral Power" which is basically a somewhat scientific version of The Force.

More akin to "Spin" from Jojo that also bases a concept off of spirals being found everywhere in nature.
