It baffles me how people do not understand Ash at all. I guess it's partly because of the bad translations and the manhwa cutting out a lot from the novel. But seriously, their relationship was not defined. It started in a twisted way. Both of them had no idea where they stood because of that s** contract in the first place. Karlyle was the one who said "no unnecessary feelings" and he said it again to Ash at the end of season one "we don't have that kind of relationship". Ash was respecting his wishes and prevented weird rumors to spread at the office since they never even discussed their situation. Karlyle never expressed his feelings not once! The only reason we know how Karlyle feels is that we can read his thoughts!!!!!! If we didn't have that, it would just be Karlyle's poker face and his short answers. Anyone would be confused by such a person, which Ash told Karlyle more than once. That he was a mystery to him. Is Ash a mind reader??? Gosh! Had Karlyle said something there and then, he wouldn't have to suffer. But he didn't. He broke it off and walked away because his low self-esteem was preventing him from opening up in the first place. Ash never met a person like Karlyle. All the people around him are extroverted and outspoken. How do you get through to a person who puts up walls and shows no outward emotions like Karlyle? Obviously, that's gonna cause some friction and some misunderstandings, if the other person never expresses what they feel or think.
