For people complaining about students stupidity let me tell how this scene happened in the novel. Students think it's examine and are afraid to show any sign of weakness. That's why they didn't say anything before Flame mentioned inconsistencies and why they were afraid to doubt institution that is considered best in the world.

@Светослав Новодворский Students think they are being evaluated based on their performance so they are afraid to admit being unable to solve problems they encounter (it's like coming to an exam and saying your teacher "your exam is wrong!").
