I really wonder what Evangeline is. An angel? Eldtrich horror? Lovecraftian monster? A g**?
The eye symbolic makes me think she's some sort of fallen angel (but an incredibly powerful one), but the star one (+ the fact that Stars are evil in the religion) makes me think she's some sort of cosmic being. Maybe a black hole? They tend to both terrify and fascinate human due to how incompressible they are.
