You guys CLEALY know NOTHING about war or this current situation. You’re all calling the emperor stupid but he made the smartest decision he could have in this situation. The most foolish thing he could have done is send troops to help the north fight Roman, they would’ve died for no reason; for Valhalla to fight of Roman and dimitri successfully they’d need 50-100 times there troops in knights which isn’t feasible especially with internal turmoil and their tools split up in a civil war. However Roman can’t takeover Valhalla on his own, because even if he does takeover the empire he simply doesn’t have enough forces (not to mention how tired they’d be) to properly takeover and run the empire on his own, and when that happens cronos would obviously swoop in and take Valhalla for free which would be the PEAK OF IDIOCY. Therefore for this to work not only does Roman have to win, he has to win while keeping the rebel forces alive so they can run the empire as his vassal state or ally- THEREFORE it’s a race against time, Roman has to not only break through the north and reach the capital, but also do it before the rebels are wiped out HENCE why the emperor sent all his forces to the rebels. IF Roman were to not make it in time, the “logical” decision would be to retreat and not waste anymore troops, HOWEVER Valhalla would block off their escape route, and even if they broke through cronos would take the opportunity to try and kill dimitri off attacking from one side while Valhalla attack from the behind- it’s common war tactics
