The plot with this manhwa is terribly weak. The mc's true goal isn't clear. And in his past life he was a cry baby and now suddenly he has become manipulative. And his relationship with his mother and other people isn't cleared. And why the heck was he offered as a token of peace. This is frustrating Nothing is cleared. not hating on manhwa, the artwork is great and story could also become good if the author just explains things properly.
@Gintoki some Manuwa didn't get as detail as the novel, and it could be that it will be cleared later. After all, this kind of Manuwa will take hundreds of chapters
@Gintoki I hafly agree but atleast he really change tho because in some other manhwa's the protagonist that went back from the past didn't even change one bit their still attach to the person who hurted them the most

Here, are some brief answers Ian didn't suddenly become manipulative, the one who is possessing his body now, is an emperor hundred years from the future The mc himself questioned the mystery behind the flower pot and necklace.So the author is clearly building up to a big reveal. And the mystery behind the past of the original Ian will clear up as the story goes on ( it's been only 11 chap) One of the reasons he was sent as a token of peace was for him send them guru leaves ( If I am remembering the name correctly) which is a powerful stimulant for warriors and to use him as a political tool like right now. The only point I agree with is that he doesn't really have a clear goal.Hope this clears up.
@UNI i think his goal for now is to go to the imperial palace? Specifically to that second building that the magician from his previous life mentioned that he should visit. But before that, he has to take over the Brach county and expand it, make it powerful in terms of wealth and influence because it'll be his only backing as someone from a faraway place when he gets to the imperial palace.
