part one )
it's not a new term it's been there for a while u probably just didn't know about it. It's a term to differentiate between a trans person and a cis person.
a cis person is for example a person like me.
A person who identifies with their assigned gender at birth.
( im sure you're most likely not trans so you'd be a cis person like me )

it's just a term used to Differentiate as I said.
because always referring to let's say it's a trans woman and let's say we always say "trans woman" when talking about her, that just like us always putting the fact that she's trans out there.

As you said u only know man and woman, and exactly that's right so if you want to refer to let's say  me a cis guy vs a trans man.
you would be like "oh that guy" since I'm born a guy and I'm still a guy but for the trans man ppl might say "oh that trans guy" like that's dumb you don't need to necessarily say "men and trans men" because trans men are men and cis men are men, so it doesn't make sense to pull them apart when talking abt men. Cause they're all the same.
But if you do wanna differentiate or talk abt something specific or whatever idk..
then u could just talk abt cis men or trans men if u referring to one or the other but if you're talking abt both Cis men & trans men , we don't need to say
"men and trans men" like that's dumb cause both are men.

and the same goes for trans women except they are women
so "trans women are women"
"cis women are women" therefore when talking abt women in general we don't need to put trans women in a separate category
or any trans person in a separate category for that matter cause cis or trans men are both men, and cis or trans women are women so we don't need to separate them and call them "trans" when we talking abt men in general or women in general.

@M.Monroe i hope that explains it, if you don't agree and say trans men or trans women are not real men/women, I don't really care if you wanna be transphobic.
im simply explaining the terms, cause me personally im a dude or a cis guy if you wanna be specific,so not trans, but before I just thought why don't we just call trans ppl trans and ppl who identify with their assigned gender at birth the "men or women" instead of cis.

but I later understood that they are the same as cis ppl cause they are the gender they identify with so putting them in a box and  calling myself a man but then calling them a "trans man" always is me basically excluding them which makes no sense as we are both men.

but if I do ever need to differentiate or talk abt either cis men or trans men separately we can do that. But other than that we can just call them or us men or women. Cause they're the same as us we don't need to go around always saying cis or trans always when talking abt men in general or women in general
ALSO IM REALLY SORRY THIS IS LONG,

IF U DONT READ IT CAUSE U DONT WANNA LEARN THATS FINE

AND IF ITS TOO MUCH TO READ I UNDERSTAND

I JUST DID NOT KNOW HOW TO SHORTEN IT CAUSE I HAVE TROUBLE WITH EXPLAINING THINGS SHORT.
-I'm autistic. But also I may have had a fun time explaining cause I love learning things and understanding ppl especially making ppl comfortable and understanding in general, just being a decent human being or learning how to guess

ok im done now
