Yup, the husband is a scum but it's not like FL didn't know since she accepted the deal. They are only husband and wife on paper but both has their freedom and privacy. It's not like he was cheating on her be ause it's a contractual mariage plus the husband also told her to take a lover.
If she can't bear it, she can get a divorce. Both have what they want, a convenient wife for him and a life with wealth and money for her.
@Mioumiou yes and no. She stays because of the livelihood but she originally married him because she fell in love with him and thought he loved her, too. She believed the contract was just a formality and he never made clear his intentions before the marriage, so now she feels trapped.
at that time, she was not aware about the meaning of freedom and privacy but she accepted the contract and the husband thought she agreed because he could give her a wealthy life with no worries.
@Mioumiou I think he could have put that they could date or take a lover on the contract instead of framing it as freedom and privacy. That he didn't make it clear makes me think he intentionally misled her and only revealed what it meant after he had her where he wanted her. And because the contract acts like prenuptial if she left him because he was cheating she would not get alimony...
