Y'all my theory about this is that ashtarte's sister, the one with silver hair (can't be bothered to know her name) is an imposter. What i mean is, she is an illegitimate child right? Well maybe that illegitimate child was replaced by another one but still in the same body of the child that was replaced, and the priest is tryna' cover it up because maybe he benefits from that silver haired child being an imposter.
That's probably why the priest is saying that ashtarte is the dark and the silver haired child is the light so that can be given a good treatment, so that in the future the priest will have a helping hand, which is that illegitimate child.
