You mean Claude? Their relationship seems platonic I guess currently based on where I am currently on the novel. He does somewhat playfully ask her if he could kill that person or that, that are causing trouble for Kanna. He does also warn Kanna about what he consider shady people, prime example is that blue guy Raphael.
As for the boat thing after the Island incident, They will be attacked by Jerome which is actually a Black Apostle.
