I agree with the translator 
hate if you want, cause you relate to being "poor" but that doesn't mean mc isn't just being stubborn (holding onto some pride).... can't you accept the help/goodwill of others for what it is- it's like you're contracted paid breaks but you keep working endlessly with fatigue, it can be disturbing for those around you as it's so unncessary and pity-calling from other POVs
