About the cardinal, I read that someone commented that he is like Snape but worse. I guess it is like that, but I think he is like Snape but in Ravenclaw house.
The cardinal is an outstanding man who has been forced to be religious since he was young. He could be a genius in every subject but cannot have any other choice than being a priest. He lived his life unknowingly why he should do this, and why should he believe in this g**. Until that one day, he felt the fear of death and prayed to open up his eyes lying in his bed. That was when his belief was founded. He wanted to pursue the knowledge of why g** would save him that day, a faithless believer but a genius who could understand g**'s teaching.
The reason why he used to hate MC was that MC went against the teaching of g**, about (I don't remember it clearly) women should be silent and should not be above men... So he felt that MC is being impudent for taking up her stance in society. Another reason why he hated her was that he thought she was craving power so she seduced the prince, but after his warning and MC trying her best to get away from Theo, the cardinal understood that it was the prince's fault to like her, not because she bewitched him.
You can see all those times when the cardinal stayed in the reflection room where he whipped himself to repent for his sin. The priest also said that he is doing so because he is dedicated to his belief rather than being corrupted and greedy like the others. As we all can see, he has a long time to think, research, and observe MC. He didn't give her any warning like in the past because he believed that she was not the same person he thought she was. He gave her a hint to understand more of g** intention and why he knew she is living her second life.

The cardinal judged MC from his knowledge and what she did to see if she is going to harm him or his g**. This is also what makes MC so annoyed that she thought the "egotistical person" would suit him. However, he lived under the curse and mockery of the other cardinals calling him names and stuff. Egotistic is probably just one of them, so he thinks she was just mocking him like any other person, whereas he still considered that advice and he believed she didn't have any bad intentions. That is when he repaid her with a hint.
"There are so many troublesome people around you." This phrase of the cardinal is like a pouting. He is saying this because he could never have a decent talk with MC. As a person pursuing knowledge and truth of the world, MC is like his researched hamster and also a smart person to discuss stuff that no one wanted to discuss as they think he was too devoted and feel annoyed by his obsession with knowledge (or maybe because she's a good listener). MC never told a lie and she can pique his curiosity. She took his words by heart, and he wanted her to remember as this is his "goodwill" for her sincerity around him. At least she still respect him and treated him as anybody should to a cardinal, not a young genius cardinal.
I've got some other brain-wrecking one that I'm following. The update of those mangas are slower than this manwha, but the conspiracy and stuff in it are stunningly amazing.
1, "The Holy Grail of Eris". This manga is like a villainess + detective manga so I do recommend it. There is also topic on manipulation and romance in it.
2. "Yakuza Reincarnation" This one is about a yakuza boss isekai into an abandoned princess on her journey to banishment. It's like yona but more violent as the theme is surrounded by underground rule of mafia, black market, slavery, demon,....
