@4hja Something happened with her mom, I don't remember, but I know she blamed him for it, and instead of him being there for her, he neglected her for the kingdom. So she instead fulfilled her duty. 

But by time he realized what he done, and tried to be in her life it was too late. Eventually he believed she died in battle, and has been mourning her ever since...

But she does not know that, and likely think he's still a terrible father.
