Guys, I couldn’t take it. I was losing my mind, so I looked up the spoilers and now I’m calm. Here’s the story behind Seol Woo’s actions.
Spoiler!
Seol Woo’s father died while he was in the military, and their family business collapsed after his uncle scammed them. His mom had to work cleaning motels, and Seol Woo lived with her in one. Loan sharks kept chasing them, even threatening to take Na-yoon and sell her off. To protect her, Seol Woo caused a scene on campus, claiming she was just one of his many flings.
Tae-hoon said Seol Woo never told Na-yoon because she would have tried to help, but it wasn’t a situation she could fix. After his military service, Seol Woo worked multiple jobs, barely sleeping, just to pay the loan interest.
At Tae-hoon’s wedding, Seol Woo showed up in worn clothes, unable to afford a gift. Na-yoon, knowing Seol Woo would be there, went all out, getting her hair and makeup done, wearing an expensive outfit and a luxury bag, and even showed up with a date, a guy Chae-ah had introduced her to.
Later, Tae-hoon found Seol Woo drunk and sobbing outside a convenience store. It was the first time he had ever seen a man cry like that. Seol Woo begged him, saying it was fine if Na-yoon dated someone else, but pleaded not to let her get married. He promised he would come back for her once he succeeded.
Professor Kang later helped Seol Woo legally resolve the debts, had his uncle listed as wanted, and helped him graduate. That’s when Seol Woo created Thunder Warning, a program to track and expose people who exploit others’ information.
